GTCC Sample K-12 Traffic Education Curriculum
General Student Learner Objectives
The student will discuss the responsibilities of roadway use.
The student will describe the personal responsibility of every roadway user as to the the proper functioning of the transportation system.
The students will indicate awareness of the risks involved in the traffic environment.
The student will evaluate the the human functions of "search, identify, predict, decide, and execute" and accurately apply them to all aspects of roadway use.
The student will identify the factors involved in minimizing possible conflicts.
The student will develop an awareness of how physical, emotional, and mental health affect roadway users.
The student will identify and interpret traffic signs.
The student will identify basic traffic laws and enforcement.
The student will demonstrate proper lane placement, communication, and speed control.
The student will recognize types of intersections, conflicts, and hazards related to to intersections.
The student will demonstrate proper actions at controlled and uncontrolled intersections.
The student will determine the effect of various roadway situations and conditions.
The student will describe the problems associated with adverse weather conditions.
The student will identify types of collisions, contributing factors, and ways to minimize them.
The student will identify the procedures to follow at the scene of a collision.
the student will identify various types of drugs, state the effect they have on the body, and explain their dangers.
The student will identify methods to promote energy conservation and explain how to personally apply them.
