Project ALERT is a skills-based drug prevention program for middle grade students; it addresses the four gateway drugs: tobacco, marijuana, alcohol, and inhalants. It is a validated and proven program that is based on the social influence model and it follows the principles of effectiveness recommended by the U.S. Department of Education.
Project ALERT answers the need for middle-aged substance abuse education in an effective and affordable way. Training materials are provided by the Office of Public Instruction using funds from the Montana Tobacco Settlement. The materials include:
