What is TEG?
The Tobacco Education Group (TEG) program is a positive alternative to suspension for those caught using tobacco on school property.
Participants are assigned to this involuntary tobacco education program.
The program consists of eight sessions.
Sessions are held after school or during lunch.
Participants adopt a healthier tobacco-free lifestyle.
TEG motivates participants to quit or join the TAP cessation group.
What is TAP?
Is a voluntary tobacco cessation group.
Provides a comprehensive tobacco awareness and cessation behavior modification curriculum.
Includes three methods of quitting: cold turkey, tapering, and postponing.
Empowers participants to share the cessation process with friends and family.
Provides stress and weight management strategies.
Provides relapse support and refusal skills.
Enhances self-esteem.
TAP groups meet one period a week for eight weeks with several follow-up support sessions (alternating periods).
