Workshop 202

TITLE:

Coding & Reflecting: Learn to Use Code.org & Seesaw in Your Classroom

DESCRIPTION:

The Coding & Reflecting: Learn to Use Code.org & Seesaw in Your Classroom class will provide an introduction to computer science and pedagogy, as well as an overview of the Code.org online curriculum, teacher dashboard and strategies for teaching “unplugged” classroom activities. We will also focus on the importance of documenting progress and reflecting on work, using Seesaw: The Learning Journal as a digital portfolio tool for this process. This workshop will provide educators with basic computer science understanding and confidence to teach Code.org A-F curriculum in their classrooms and libraries. Even teachers with low and no technology in their classrooms will be able to implement computer science concepts into their classrooms, as teachers will have access to unplugged activities and resources to begin teaching coding in their classrooms. This workshop will be very hands-on and teachers will have the opportunity to explore online puzzles, complete unplugged challenges, use Seesaw to journal & reflect as well as play with other coding tools and resources. Educators will leave with an understanding of the importance of CS for all students, a plan for starting to teach computer science fundamentals to their students, and knowledge of how to implement Seesaw to document student learning & encourage student reflection.
