TITLE:
Classroom STREAMing - Like California Dreaming!
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
How do we connect multiple areas of the curriculum? How do we engage our students and encourage higher order thinking skills that they will use throughout their education and beyond?
Following curriculum and standards, classroom teachers can find a balance and create lessons that will connect students to their learning. This will be a make and take class for teachers K-12. We will collaborate on lessons, providing a bridge - literally and figuratively - from one area of the curriculum to others. Standards and objectives will be analyzed from a variety of curriculum, meeting the unique needs of our Montana students. Utilizing GTCC Standards, IFEA, OPI and scope and sequences from curriculum, teachers will have the ability to write lesson plans to use during the 2023-24 school year.
Activities will include: bridge making, water use and testing, making snow, mixing ingredients into usable creations, patterning and beads, as well as combining ELA, Math, Writing, Social Studies and Science.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Bring your imagination, a laptop/device to research information, a notebook, 3 empty water bottles, two bottles of your favorite soda and a joke to share with your peers.
Bring one each of your reading, math, science textbooks or teacher’s guides. Bring printed standards for your grade level.

OPI Renewal Units -OR- 1 semester credit Continuing Education Credits (MSU-Northern) will be available ($150 - paid at the workshop).
EXPENSES:
Participants will be responsible for travel, lodging, and meals.
