TITLE:
Art Integration for Core Subjects through the Eyes of Great Masters in Art
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Art Integration is a great way to differentiate instruction in core subject areas such as English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and World History - through a project-based learning approach. Tapping into a student's creativity supports critical thinking skills, social/emotional growth and collaboration with peers. Students learn to appreciate diversity through different learning styles and working together, which is needed for 21st century success, according to the research. Students do not always have the opportunity to learn about the great masters in art that innovated the world and this course is designed to do just that, while increasing the learning of multiple standards in different core areas.
Participants will be able to access visual and literary resources for K-12 teachers interested in supplementing their core curriculums in ELA, Math, History, Science and Music through the perspectives of some of our greatest artists in history. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how to integrate the visual arts into your classrooms with sample lesson plans that align to GTCC & state standards; rubrics that help you formatively assess learning and creating art projects that will help teach your students how to express themselves in a unique way while learning core subject matter.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Dress in comfortable clothes you are not afraid of getting paint on. Bring your laptop or Chromebook.
