Workshop: 2312
TITLE:
MT Animals: Inside Out!
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course combines a survey of favorite and unique Montana animals, outdoor science activities and classroom animals to help you use all things animal as a door into science - both inside and outside your classroom. We will start by meeting some of Montana Outdoor Science School's ambassador animals, learning about how live animals can be a jumping off point to learn about things you can't bring into the classroom. We'll then venture out and try our hands at tracking, finding animal signs, using game cams and other tools to learn about what we know is there but we don't always get to see. Over the two day course, we'll delve deeply into the world of wolves, grizzlies, and other charismatic and not so charismatic fauna (and their ecosystems). We'll focus on animals that live in mountain and prairie ecosystems and how they interact - finding ways to hit MT Science Standards using our own backyards!
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Please plan to be outside for several hours at a time during this course. Bring sunscreen, layers, water, snacks, sturdy shoes and a backpack. Binoculars are optional, but encouraged.
