TITLE:
A South African Musical and Cultural Safari
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Join in as we explore diverse traditional and contemporary Musics from different regions of South Africa. This session will also focus on the understanding of the culture, history, art, and folklore. Try some traditional food! Materials in this course are designed to be used in grades 3-8 general classroom and music classroom. Many usable comprehensive lesson plans will be provided to take right back to your classrooms. A bonus will feature a presentation of Nyunga Nyunga Mbira to hear traditional, folk, and contemporary music from South Africa’s neighbor, Zimbabwe.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Please dress comfortably for movement. A laptop or tablet is optional.
