TITLE:

Getting Tech-y: Integration, Tools & Digital Citizenship for Grade PreK-8

COURSE DESCRIPTION: 

This course, intended for PreK-8 educators, will explore the basics of the SAMR, TPACK and Triple E frameworks for integrating technology into classrooms and achieving the GTCC Standards or the adopted MT State Standards for Technology Integration. We will discuss tips & strategies for introducing new digital tools to young students and learn about favorite apps and websites that allow students to practice skills, create and share their learning. We will also discuss the importance of teaching digital citizenship and learn about programs to help teach these important skills to our young learners. We will be learning about and exploring a variety of technology programs, focusing on how they can be utilized in PreK-8 classrooms. Teachers will have opportunities to collaborate, explore and create during our time together.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:

Participants should bring a device such as laptop, Chromebook or iPad in order to participate in this course. Basic experience with technology, including the ability to move between multiple programs, have a growth mindset and be open to learning a variety of new things will be necessary to be successful in this course.

Participants will be downloading and/or using logins to accounts for digital tools utilized in the course in order to create and share projects. A final list of tools needed will be shared before the course. Teachers will not be required to purchase any digital tools for the purpose of this course.

OPI Renewal Units -OR- 1 semester credit Continuing Education Credits (MSU-Northern) will be available ($150 - paid at the workshop).

EXPENSES:

Participants will be responsible for travel, lodging, and meals.
