GTCC Summer Institute 2019

Workshop 1901

TITLE:

Every Child Deserves Art

DESCRIPTION:

The workshop is designed for K-8 teachers and teaches an art program called Art in Action (https://artinaction.org/) that is designed to offer all children art in the classroom through integrating the arts into the core curriculum (e.g., Science, Social Studies, Math, Language Arts). I will supply all of the art materials and teach 13 art lessons from Art in Action that are aligned to the CCSS in Art and in other academic subject areas. The lessons include art created for Surrealism, American Realism, Cubism, American Painting, French Painting, Expressionism, Mexican Muralism, and American Modernism. Teachers will learn how to support learning in the classroom through differentiating instruction with hands on learning in art making through an aesthetic education.
